"Miscarriage of Evil"

Films: The Unborn (2009)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: Indescribable.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: How many "babies born evil" stories can we take?! Not enough, it seems. But then again, this one isn't quite like the others...even if it's directed by Michael Bay. Dammit.

History: The Dybbuk is a horrible spirit that invades an unborn twin when it gets the chance so that it may emerge into the land of the living. It has been doing this for some time, but all of its hosts have been killed. It has caused abject misery everywhere it's been, and now, it's taken over the mind and life of a young babysitter who would have had a twin had it not died. But it wants to be born through that kid. NOW.

Notable Kills: Few who end up possessed survive...looking the way they used to, that is.

Final Fate: After the exorcism keeps getting botched, our heroine is finally able to help finish it, driving the Dybbuk away from our world. However, the woman has recently become pregnant with twins. Whether the spirit will come back or not, none can say...

Powers/Abilities: The Dybbuk can possess people and either instill horrific hallucinations into their minds or force them to move/talk in unnatural ways.

Weakness: Exorcisms, Jewish symbols of protection like the Hamsa amulet.

Scariness Factor: 4-As jump scare-laden as its attack is, as well as how annoying that kid it possessed was, you cannot deny that the Dybbuk is the last thing you want to see making the birth of twins an even bigger nightmare. Also, those illusions (if they even were illusions) are just...brr...that one tooth-filled corpse...those dogs...yikes!

Trivia: -In Jewish mythology, the Dybbuk's name comes from the Hebrew phrase for "to cling to". This is because they would often cling to the backs of people until their goals were met. But there are some Dybbuks who will let go if you are a genuinely good person to them.

-Amusingly, this film full of hideous imagery is the only movie to have been released by Platinum Dunes that received a PG-13 rating.
